David Grindstaff

owner

David’s love of animals started as a boy on a small farm in Western North Carolina.  Among the cattle, chickens, pigs, and various other animals he always had two or more treasured dogs with the family.  His other love growing up were the sciences which he followed with a Chemistry major at North Carolina State University.  While working in the chemical industry he decided to go to business school to get his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  That education allowed him to join his love of animals with his love of business with the opening of Continental Boarding and Doggie Daycare in 2006.  “I’ve never been more rewarded in all my working life than with what I do each and every day here at Continental.  Our customers are some of the best people you could ever meet (of course because they are pet owners!) and they and their wonderful pets make my life a joy to live.  “Do what you love and you will never work another day in your life” is the perfect way to sum up my life today at Continental.” Dave currently has five dogs, one cat, one tortoise, and five fish living at home.

Dr. Lisa C. Shaw

owner

From two years of age Dr. Shaw knew she wanted to be a Veterinarian but unlike so many people with young childhood dreams she fulfilled that dream by graduating from North Carolina State University’s School of Veterinarian Medicine.  Dr. Shaw is currently the owner of Indian Land Animal Hospital in Indian Land, SC.  She has also worked in private practice in Raleigh, NC, Boston, MA, and Charlotte, NC where she not only worked in a small animal practice but also as an emergency veterinarian at Carolina Veterinary Specialists for two years.  “The incredibly diverse cases I experienced at Carolina Veterinary Specialists made me an infinitely better Veterinarian then I would otherwise have been. I feel that also makes us a much better kennel than anyone else in the business.  We truly care about each guest that stays with us and I personally oversee the quality of care that our guests receive.  No chain or franchise boarding facility and only the other veterinarians that are able to board their clients can say that but with the facility we have at Continental we offer a different experience for your pet then the traditional animal hospital enclosures.  It’s truly a one of a kind facility.”

Jessica Mitchell

General Manager

Jessica is a life-long animal lover that brings her compassion and enthusiasm to Continental Boarding each and every day.  She knew in high school that animals were her life calling where she started her journey as a kennel tech in a local veterinarian office while also trying her hand at vet technician at the same hospital.  After high school graduation Jessica was accepted to Clemson University where she earned her degree in Animal and Veterinary Science in 2009.  After graduation she found her passion in boarding and day care business where she has worked her way up to General Manager of Continental Boarding.
